Newsletters Eric Wiegardt has been creating artwork professionally since 1985. He usually sends out six or more e-mail newsletters each year to share news of special events, new paintings, travels, gallery shows, recent awards and publications, and perhaps some musings on art or being an artist. Eric also sends postcards of new prints or events about three times a year in the mail and sends a workshop flier once a year in the fall, or by request. Eric maintains two sets of mailing lists for e-mail announcements: a collectors list and a workshop list. When you stop by Wiegardt Studio Gallery in Ocean Park, Washington to view the latest original watercolor paintings by Eric Wiegardt, you may ask to be added to the notification listings. You may make the same request by mail, telephone, or by clicking here. The first two weeks I conducted a watercolor workshop at LeCasacce, a villa about a one hour drive south of Sienna. We visited a number of elegant hilltowns such as San Gimignano, Montepulciano, Castel Del Piano, and other artistically diverse centers as Florence, Sienna, Banfi Winery, and Pienza. Along with paintings executed at LeCasacce, I did a number at these destinations, which has allowed me to bring home a bit of the Tuscan light to share with collectors such as yourself. Additionally, I have several acrylic paintings of Venice and Rome (my family and I took an extra week to explore the visual treasures offered in these towns) I’ve always wanted to see Michelangelo’s Pieta and fresco of the Sistine Chapel. I am excited about the paintings that have come from this trip, and the opportunity to experience Italy intimately as an artist. I would love to share my splendid experience of this beautiful culture with you. Feel free to contact us if you would like to see photos of my paintings. Recently I have become fascinated with painting with acrylics. This medium has opened up new doors of creative exploration for me. Conversely, I have found the unique mixing techniques I developed with my watercolors translates exceptionally well into acrylics. Please note I am in the transition of framing watercolors without glass I have been experimenting with finishes that will archivally protect the painting. This is nothing new English masters such as Turner and Girtin used this process in the 18th century and many watercolorists are turning to it again today. It is a real joy to view the beauty of a watercolor without a glass barrier and the resulting reflections. By using todays’ archival paints and cotton surfaces, watercolor paintings will last for generations, glazed or unglazed. Award News: My paintings have received the following awards from these prestigious societies: ...and I am excited to have one of my first acrylic paintings accepted at the Allied Artists of America show in New York. My best to all of you this fall, Eric |
