^ Pont du Gard, France
# 2825 16" x 20"
It was a hot day in France. This Roman aquaduct was overpowering in its immensity. It's amazing what the Romans built 2000 years ago.
^ Bonnieux, France
# 2832 16" x 20"
Painted on site, the mistrals were howling that day. My students had to hold down my paper, otherwise I would have been unable to finish.
^ Oysterville Cannery
# 2878 22" x 30"
The Oysterville Cannery stands like a sentinel out over the tideflats in Oysterville. It is being revitalized by my friend Dan into the fresh oyster business it is today.
^ Lilies and Sunflowers
# 2876 22" x 30"
Lilies and sunflowers are tied together with lyrical line work into a symphony of complementary violets and yellows.
^ Nahcotta Snow
# 2875 22" x 30"
We rarely get snow in Nahcotta, but when it happens, magic is unleashed. In this painting, expressive calligraphy waltzes across the picture plane in choreographed harmony.
^ Intimate Conversation
# 2877 22" x 30"
Rarely is there anything more pleasant than two lovers alone sharing thoughts only reserved for them.
^ Roses
# 2869 36" x 30"
Pink and red roses are a symbol of love, especially backdropped by the purity of white. These roses will never fade or wilt.
^ Saignon, France
# 2824 20" x 16"
Saignon presented me with a typical French scene: an outdoor cafe surrounded by stuccoed walls replete with green shutters.
^ Oyster Tubs, South Bend
# 2787 22" x 30"
Oyster tubs are used for harvesting on private oyster ground. They are plentiful and offer a variety of abstract patterns.
^ Madeira
# 2783 22" x 30"
Madeira is a Portuguese island off of Morocco. The fishermen hand-drag their boats out of the water on slides constructed on the bottom of each boat. All their boats are brightly colored.
^ Columbia Estuary
# 2565 26" x 35"
I pass this estuary many times as I drive to Astoria, Oregon. The waterfowl abound here, along with eagles and hawks.
^ Rila Monastery
# 2496 18" x 24"
^ Clamdiggers
# 2657 19" x 25"
Digging for razor clams is a popular pastime on our beaches. Thousands of diggers brave adverse weather to capture the tasty bivalve.
^ The Derelict
# 2757 22" x 30"
Painted plein-air, this old-timer fell apart several weeks later. Like other artists before me who documented the passage of old barns, in a similar way I am doing the same with old wooden boats.
^ Tidal Harmonies
# 2637 30" x 40"
This large painting captures the exquisite, undulating patterns of our tidal grasses. The design appears subtle, yet it is commanding in totality.
